Chief Assistant District Attorney
Allen L. Bode has served as the Chief Assistant District Attorney since 2022. Chief Bode is a career prosecutor, beginning as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens, then becoming an Assistant United States Attorney for EDNY, and finally serving as the Chief Assistant District Attorney here in Suffolk County. Throughout his career, Chief Bode has handled complex cases ranging from white-collar fraud to violent crimes, including murder.
As Chief Assistant District Attorney, he manages the Office’s legal and administrative operations, and directly oversees multiple bureaus such as Public Corruption, Appeals, and Conviction Integrity, as well as units addressing hate crimes and human trafficking.
Chief Bode received his Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago School of Law. In 1997, he began his prosecutorial career with the Queens District Attorney's Office, where he handled armed robberies, arson, and economic crimes.
In 2003, Chief Bode joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), serving as an Assistant United States Attorney until December 2021. During his 17-year tenure at EDNY in the Long Island Criminal Division, Chief Bode investigated and prosecuted a variety of crimes including complex white-collar frauds, international cartel drug importation, child exploitation, and murder.
In 2016, Chief Bode was appointed Deputy Chief of the United States Attorney's Office’s Long Island Criminal Division. In 2020, Chief Bode was appointed Chief of the International Narcotics and Money Laundering Section in the Brooklyn Criminal Division, where he served until his appointment as Chief Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County in January 2022.
In February 2020, Chief Bode served as lead trial counsel in the federal prosecution of U.S. v. Robinson, a case involving multiple violent robberies, shootings, and murders over the course of several months and spanning across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Robinson was convicted and sentenced to life in prison plus 84 years.
Throughout his career, Chief Bode has received multiple honors, including the 2005, 2007, and 2009 Federal Prosecutor of the Year Awards from Parents for Megan’s Law. In 2009, he received the Investigator of the Year Award from the NY/NJ Federal Law Enforcement Foundation. Chief Bode also received the True American Hero Award in 2011 and 2020 from the Federal Drug Agents Foundation.
